At Christmas time, many people are deciding on what gift to give that special someone. Whether it is a spouse, child, girlfriend boyfriend or just someone who?s been there for you, it can be hard to decide.
Of all the gifts that I have given over the years, two have stood out for people. This can be for any occasion throughout the year.
- Why they make a difference in your life.
- Why they make a difference in other peoples lives.
- The talents and gifts that they have.
- The potential that you see in them.
- What you appreciate about them and why.
I would then put this on special paper that reflected their personality. You can them either place it in an envelop or even frame it for them to hang on the wall as a reminder when they are feeling down. I have even included a ribbon that said, ?Who You Are Makes A Difference?.
The second gift is the gift of listening. Often we half listen, because we have several things on our mind or believe we know what they are going to say. And people know it. They often feel that you don?t consider either them or what they have to say important.
I have heard many people say, "If only someone would just listen to me."
They desire a friendly ear, a sounding board to just hear them.- Let them know that you would like to listen to them.
- Find a time when you are not rushed.
- Make sure there are no distractions.
- Turn off the TV, radio, cell phone etc.
- Make sure you are not too tired to listen.
- Turn off the TV, radio, cell phone etc.
- Face the other person.
- Have eye contact with them.
- Show signs that you are listening.
- Do not give advice unless asked for.
- Encourage them to continue. Say, ?Tell me more about that.?
- Ask, is there anything else?
- Stop the temptation to respond, jot down a note is necessary.
To do this:
You can be amazed at what you can learn by just listening. I have seen people go through this process and say things like, "I never knew". They realized that they had made several assumptions about the other person and didn?t discover who or what they are really about. It has healed relationships of all types. It is also very rewarding watching how happy this can make the other person.
So often, because we are rushed, we don?t take the time to let the people that are close to us, know that they matter. Sadly, many people are better at pointing out the negative or what is wrong and some people start to think that is the only thing you see in them. Then they go into depression or worse, because they belief that no one cares.
These two gifts can go along way in developing improved communication and stronger relationships.
The rewards are great and the discoveries can be amazing.

One of them is to write down or type what you see in the other person.
You may not realize it, but smoking affects your social life as well as your physical well being. How often have you avoided going places because they were non-smoking, or ducked out of a party at the height of the action to satisfy your nicotine cravings?
When you quit smoking, you can also increase your confidence, meet new people, and join new activities. An improved social life is just one more reason to quit smoking!
Gain confidence.
Smokers become addicted to the nicotine in cigarettes and tobacco. Cigarettes, cigars, and pipes all emit smoke that holds thousands of other chemicals, in addition to the nicotine. When a person?s body becomes addicted to nicotine, the chemical temporarily creates pleasant physical and mental effects, which keeps the smoker coming back time and again.
When you successfully quit smoking, you overcome this physical and mental addiction. Overcoming such a powerful addiction is no easy task. Once you?ve accomplished it, you?ll have more confidence to face other difficult tasks in your life, armed with the knowledge that you have succeeded at one of the most challenging hurdles many people encounter. If you can quit smoking, what is there that you can?t accomplish?
Meet others trying to quit.
Hopefully your family and friends will be supportive of your efforts to quit smoking. However, non one can truly empathize with you except someone that is going through the same trials and tribulations. Join an online or local community that offers support to people who are quitting smoking.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) offers phone counseling at 1-800-QUIT-NOW. WhyQuit offers discussion groups for both first-time quitters and ones that have tried before. WhyQuit focuses on abrupt nicotine cessation (as opposed to smoking cessation with a gradual decrease in nicotine intake).
Many forums are geared toward quitting with the aid of a specific medication. However, forums that are more general include:
American Lung Association?s Freedom from Smoking? offers modules to walk a quitter through the process and associated message boards.
The Quit Smoking Company?s message boards are visually sparse, but offer visitors many opportunities for discussion with others trying to quit.
Quit Smoking Support has been helping smokers quit for over nine years through peer-to-peer support and encouragement.
To meet people in your local area and have a face-to-face discussion on quitting smoking, visit Nicotine Anonymous, Smart Recovery, or check with your insurance and health providers. Get more support for your efforts, and make new friends!
Learn new activities.
Many experts recommend taking up new activities to fill up your time and keep you from thinking about smoking. As your health improves, you can join a local gym, recreational sports league, or take fitness classes.
To keep their hands busy and away from cigarettes, some people take up hobbies like knitting, crocheting, or doing puzzles. What will you do with your new energy and time? The possibilities are endless!
Get out of the house.
When first quitting, smokers are often urged to spend a lot of time in public places where smoking is prohibited, such as libraries, malls, theatres, or museums. Revel in the fact that you can stay inside as long as you like?no need to run outside and satisfy a nicotine craving!
Make a point to meet friends and families for dinner at non-smoking restaurants that you may have avoided in the past. As the amount of time since your last cigarette increases, your sense of taste will improve and you can enjoy the food more.
Enjoy your financial freedom.
A big part of quitting smoking is giving yourself rewards when you reach an important goal, whether it?s going a day without smoking or six months. How can you reward yourself?
Tally up all of the money that you would be spending on cigarettes and think of ways to spend it. You can save up for a big trip or larger purchase, or spend it on weekly social activities like dining out, going to the theatre, or taking hobby or fitness classes. Use your extra money to improve your social life and reward yourself for resisting the temptation to buy another pack of cigarettes.
When someone quits smoking, their physical, mental, and emotional well-being all improve dramatically. Quitting smoking can take your social life to new heights since you?ll have time and money for new hobbies, and will be able to venture out in public without fear of finding someplace to smoke your next cigarette. Once you?ve quit smoking, your social life will be on fire!

You may believe, after reading this far, that negative thoughts are the biggest enemy, but that is wrong. The biggest enemy of positive thought is excuses.
When you make an excuse, you are opening a door for negative thoughts. Excuses are just your way of trying to trick your mind. You are trying to pass on responsibility for something every time you make an excuse.
Excuses can make becoming a positive thinker very difficult. If you are someone who is used to making excuses, then you will have a hard time becoming a positive thinker unless you stop making excuses.
Excuses are something that can make your mind think it is doing positive things when it really is not. An excuse will just make you think you are okay and not being negative at all, but in reality using an excuse is just a negative thought in disguise.
In order to be a positive thinker and put the power of positive thinking to work in your life, you have to get rid of the excuses. If you feel that you are about to make an excuse, then stop. Think about why you are making the excuse. What are you going to get from it? What benefit does this excuse have?
Try to identify what is really going on and why you feel you need to make the excuse. Are you just trying to sneak in a negative thought and trying to explain to your positive side why it is okay? This is common, especially when a person is just beginning to use the power of positive thinking.
Do not give up, though, if you start to find yourself making excuses. Just learn to be aware of this common tactic your brain has to try to keep the negative hanging around.

Like everything in life, managing your fears and anxieties takes practice. The more you do it, the better you will become. Here are a few reminders on how you can become better at dealing with your fears, depression, and anxieties.
Take advantage of the help that is available around you. If possible, talk to a professional who can help you manage your fears and anxieties. They will be able to provide you with additional advice and insights on how to deal with your current problem. By talking to a professional, a person will be helping themselves in the long run because they will become better able to deal with their problems in the future.
In every anxiety related situation you experience, begin to learn what works, what doesn?t work and what you need to improve on in managing your fears and anxieties. As an author of a managing fear book, there were times that I didn?t know how to handle my fear and anxieties. I made it a point to learn what techniques worked for me when I became anxious. I did this for fifteen years and gained a lot of valuable information on how to deal with my anxieties.
When managing your fears and anxieties do not try to tackle everything at once. The best solution is to break your fears or problems into a series of smaller steps. Completing these smaller tasks one at a time will make the stress more manageable and increases your chances of success.
Learn as much as you can in managing anxiety and depression. There are many books and information that will educate you on how to deal with fear and anxiety. Try to find those books that review many effective techniques in dealing with fear and anxiety. Education is the key in finding the answers your looking for in managing your fears.
As a Layman, the best way to deal with your fears is to find effective ways to overcome them. Remember that all you can do is to do your best each day, hope for the best, and take it in stride by using the help of God. Patience, education, and lots of practice will go along way in fixing your problems.

There are millionaires in every industry, from computer software to even shoe shiners. Millionaires come from all walks of life. Some were immigrants like Andrew Carnegie and some have even been bankrupt several times such as Mark Victor Hansen. Then what made them eventually come out on top? All have earned their wealth in different ways, but all of these millionaires that I've described to you share at least 7 essential core beliefs, and I've outlined them for you right here.
1. Millionaires Believe in Having Balance in their Lives
Most millionaires work only a few hours a week every few weeks at a time, how? Millionaires do first things first. They ask themselves, "What is the most important thing that I can be doing right now?" or what Brian Tracy asks, "If I were to leave tomorrow for a month with nobody having a possible way of getting a hold of me, what would I be doing right now?"
Example: Tim Ferris, author of the New York Times Bestseller The 4-Hour Work Week goes on vacation for two months at a time travelling the world. After his 2-month vacation, Ferris comes home, works a little for about a month before leaving on yet another two-month vacation.
2. Millionaires Know They Can't Make it on Their Own
Millionaires leverage the power of the mastermind group. Millionaires surround themselves with other like-minded people to help them achieve far more than they could have done on their own or thought possible. Mastermind groups help brainstorm new ideas to generate wealth and also help with networking through potentially thousands of influential people and companies.
Example: Andrew Carnegie studied the life of Jesus in the New Testament and the impact Jesus had on the world and what He was able to accomplish in only 3 years of His ministry. Carnegie saw that Jesus had surrounded Himself with 12 men and called them "Apostles", so Carnegie gathered around him a group of men and called them "executives". Carnegie knew nothing of the steel industry initially, but through the help of his executives became one of the wealthiest men of all time through that same industry.
3. Millionaires Believe They Have No limitations
Millionaires don't believe that the sky is the limit; that would be silly to believe such a thing. Millionaires believe there are no limits. The only limitations we have are the ones we put on ourselves. Millionaires also understand that all roadblocks to success are mental roadblocks. All problems and solutions rest within our own minds.
Example: Robert G Allen and Mark Victor Hansen wanted to do what nobody has ever done before and that is pre-sell one million copies of a single book. Everyone thought they were crazy, but they did it. By the way, that book is the One Minute Millionaire.
4. Millionaires Believe They are the Makers of Their Own Destiny
Millionaires choose to live and run their own lives. They do this by not letting setbacks and unwelcomed circumstances hold them back. Millionaires have a winner's way of thinking; they go forward with the attitude that "Failure is not an option". Robert G. Allen has referenced himself many times asking, "Could I do it if a loved one depended on me accomplishing this task or goal?" and you'll find that the answer is always a resounding YES.
Example: The number of millionaires have nearly doubled in the past decade and nearly 80% are self-made millionaires. Do I really need to give a specific example?
5. Millionaires Believe in Giving
Millionaires believe in the law of abundance. Millionaires know that there will always be plenty to go around. They also know that as they give, the universe will give back to them in greater abundance. Millionaires believe the more they give of their time, talents, knowledge, and wealth, the universe will give back exponentially to what is given.
Example: Mark Victor Hansen donates a minimum of 10% of his earning each year to various churches and non-profit organizations; on top of that each of his Chicken Soup for the Soul books has a charity attached to it. Hansen and his business partner Jack Canfield currently hold the world record for selling more books than any other author in the history of the world.
6. Millionaires Believe That at the Root of Every Problem is a Seed of Opportunity
Millionaires believe they can turn any negative situation to a positive situation. Whether it's personal, family, or financial; they see problems as an opportunity of improvement.
Example: When computers were first created they filled an entire room and required a group of trained individuals to run them. Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs saw this and sought to fill the void by creating the first personal computer and as a result the Apple I was invented.
7. Millionaires Believe in Education
Millionaires don't believe in having solely college education, they believe also in self-education. The average person reads less than one book per year; the average millionaire reads two books per week. I'm not talking about books such as Harry Potter either, rather, books such as Think and Grow Rich and 7 Habits of Highly Successful People. Millionaires become successful through their reading habits.
Example: Zig Ziglar reads 3 hours per day; two hours out of self help action books and one hour out of the Bible. Brian Tracy and Mark Victor Hansen (along with many other noted authors) take it one step further by suggesting listening to educational tapes in your car wherever you go. By listening to educational tapes and CD's in your car you will have an equivalence of a college education in less than one year.
Conclusion
There is a new millionaire made every 60 seconds in America, and by diligently applying these principles, you could very soon be one of them.

Millions each day (if not more) are afflicted with and effected by the habit of procrastination. How many times have we all said, "Oh, I'll do it tomorrow"?
Procrastination will kill your dreams faster than you can even have them.
Here's the simple, straight forward reason why: You can't succeed at something until it exists.
Or, put another way: everything that physically exists (whether it's a painting, a city, a relationship, a career or a friendship) had to have been born first. And all physical things are born out of an action.
So when we procrastinate, we take no action and consequently - nothing is born.
Do you want financial freedom?
- Then you need to take action.
Do you want to own your own home or be your own boss?
- Then you need to take action.
Do you want massive success?
- Then TAKE ACTION!
GET STARTED
Guess what? Tomorrow never comes. It never does.
I used to get like a deer in headlights, frozen in my tracks, when it came to reaching for my dreams. The idea of having my own business seemed so daunting that I didn't know where to start...so I didn't! There was always something ?more important? or ?necessary? to do and my vision took a backseat... day after day after day.
For years.
Many years.
It was terrible.
I bet you know what I'm talking about too. Make a commitment to pick at least one success principle and DO SOMETHING about it! It doesn't matter how poorly you do it.
Just Do It.
When Laura and I first started Pathways To Power, we had no idea what direction things would go in. You know what? It didn't matter! Who cares! Just get started!
So that's what we did. We just threw up a web page and offered to help people.
Did it look dumb? Yes!
Well guess what? 3 people signed up anyway! I don't even know how they found the web page because we didn't tell anyone it existed! (remember it did exist though. We put a web page together and that gave us at least a chance to be found).
That's a success principle for you.
Did you see the movie "Field of Dreams"? Same idea: If you build it, they will come. So get building and throw something together that will at least give you a chance of succeeding. You can dot your i's and cross your t's later. We want to help you take action TODAY. Here are various reasons why some of you WON'T take action when you're done reading this:
1) I'm too busy right now and don't have enough time (it's a trap and a part of the illusion. You'll NEVER have enough time until you make the time. Get up 30 minutes earlier in the morning!)
2)I don't know what to do (we recommend finding a mentor to help you)
3) I don't have a Masters' degree or PHD so who is going to listen to what I have to say? (50% of millionaire entrepreneurs never finished college.)
4) I'm too old. I missed the boat when I had my chance xx years ago and didn't take it. (replace the xx's with appropriate excuse).
I met a fellow over the internet once who was living in Japan. I'd been researching ways to improve my eyesight when I came across his website. He'd been a business owner for many years and told me he was very excited because he just recently passed the bar exam and opened a new law office. Guess how old he was when he did this? He was in his EIGHTIES!
It takes money to make money - and I don't have any! (I know a man who, right out of college, had very little money. He went and bought a handheld drill and that was his only investment. He then went door to door and offered to drill peepholes in the doors that didn't already have one?for $50! Me? I took my own $50 and turned it into thousands on eBay.)
I'm sure there are other reasons to NOT get started building your dreams today. If you have any that are holding you back, please feel free to write in and add them to our list.
That' all for now but please: make a commitment to getting started today.
This is YOUR year if you decide to go for it.
No more excuses.
Take ACTION.
It's what separates the would be's, runner ups and wish I had's from the abundantly successful.

Last week I was guided to write that you are loved and supported in ways that are both seen and unseen. The response was amazing-words of gratitude and grace for a simple expression of truth.
If you turn on the radio you will hear songs about love: songs about losing love, songs about unrequited love, and if you are really lucky once in a while you will hear just a plain silly love song. Why? Why are we all looking for love, when really it is inside of us and accessible anytime we need it?
All this looking and searching creates resistance to receiving all the love and support that is available each minute of every day. In order to manifest the love and support you desire in your world, you must access and feel the love you already have inside of you. I know, easier said than done.
When I was younger, my big question for any intuitive I went to was, "When am I going to find love?" But since then I have found LOVE and it is the kind of love that can never be broken. You too can find this kind of love, right now and right here. Are you ready?
Take a moment to connect with your Axiom of Translation (the how-you-will-be-known-here Language) for some Soulful guidance. If you don't know your Axiom of Translation, just set the intention to connect with that part of yourself that is how you will be known here. Ask this part of your Soul to show you all of the love inside of you.
Once you have felt that powerful and unlimited source of love, I want you to offer all that love and power to yourself, for yourself. For those of you thinking that loving yourself is selfish, remember you have to love yourself before you can offer that love to anyone else-only by not loving yourself are you really being selfish.
Now, what would happen in your world if you started your day filled with LOVE? Take a moment to feel and understand how this new feeling will change the way you approach relationships, do business, and experience your life.
