You may be looking for answers to make you happier, more successful, more driven, and more positive in your life. You may be reading self-help books and visiting self-help websites and skimming through self-help articles on whatever you want to improve in your life. But the truth is no matter how much you read or even learn; it is not going to do anything for you unless you take action and start applying it to your life.

There are so many people who are looking for answers to improve their life, and they quite possibly come across them all the time, but then they don't take action when they find them. I'm guilty of doing this as well but I'm aware of it and quickly fix my mistake of being lazy and doing nothing and replace it with a plan of action to move forward.

If you are looking for something to make you more positive in your life and you find an article that talks about using affirmations to make yourself think more positively, and you don't try the affirmations, then you have taken no action to actually become more positive. All you have done is wasted time reading about a technique that may help you become more positive. You may have thought the technique sounded like a good idea but didn't actually try it.

If you keep doing what you are doing then you are going to keep feeling what you are feeling and you will always be where you are now. It is as simple as that. You have to take what you read or learn and actually apply it to your life to produce a change.

I know this concept seems simple when it comes to self-help but it is often overlooked, even though it is the most powerful thing you can do to start changing your life right now! Many people are willing to complain about not getting what they want in their lives but are not willing to take the action to get what kind of lives they want.

If you are looking to become more positive then take action to do so. When you find some information or tips to help you become more positive, like affirmations, and you believe in their ability to do so - start using them on a daily basis and see what comes of it. Don't think about how nice that would be to use them - just do it!

There are also many people who start taking action right away but after a day or two revert back to their old ways. This is another case of not really taking action. They get excited and ready to go, and they quickly use that excitement to start taking action! Soon they become tired of trying to change their habits or beliefs and find it easier to keep doing what they were doing before all this tiring stuff. It doesn't seem to be working and the excitement has died out. The route they decide to take is the easier route and it is often taken.

The problem with this is that habits, beliefs, and emotions do not change in a day or two.

The time frame differs for everyone but the chances of it happening that quickly are very small. Most people take a few weeks to really start practicing new habits or methods of doing things and to start believing newly formed beliefs. It takes repetition of an action to come to this new found way of life.

So the next time you feel the urge to move forward in your life and become a better person, take action! Do things that help you towards that goal. Form new beliefs or new habits and become a different person. You will feel good about yourself when you do and realize that you really can be the person you want to be.
