Some women fear goal setting, because they have heard so many horror stories about how hard and time-consuming it is. In reality, it does not have to be that way at all. Notice how simple the following tips are, and perhaps some of your apprehension about this subject will be dispelled:

1. It is always easier to concentrate on one goal at a time, instead of stressing out trying to do too many simultaneous goals. This is especially true when first beginning to set goals.

2. To get a running start on goal setting, think about the easiest one goal you most want to achieve now. Write this goal down on a 3x5 card in positive (don't use negatives such as can't, don't, won't, etc.) first person (I), present tense language. Keep this card within sight throughout the next few days, so that it becomes fully ingrained in your mind.

Example: I (first person) am dressed for work in ten minutes flat every work day.

3. Add affirmations-small positive steps that you may need to take in order for your goal to be successful-underneath your chosen goal. Note: You may use as many affirmations as you think you need for the success of each goal.

Affirmation #1: It is easy for me to lay out my attire for the next day before I go to bed at night.

Affirmation #2: I really like taking my bath at night, instead of in the morning.

Working on your first goal in the above way will help you achieve better success, while at the same time it will also help you become more confident in doing goals. Before long, you may even surprise yourself and become an expert at goal setting!
