Have you ever talked yourself out of doing something such as approaching a woman you are interested in? You probably have felt like there was that little voice of doubt inside your head that you can't silence, and that voice talks you out of doing a lot of things you would have loved to do by instilling fear and doubt into you?

Just think of how much of a difference it would make in your life if you were able to turn that voice off for good? I am sure you would love to be able to do so, but probably think it is quite impossible to do it at this time. If so, you might be interested that turning off that inner voice isn't really as difficult as what most people make it out to be.

First of all, you need to know and recognize the enemy you are dealing with. Most people let this inner voice control and influence them because they feel that this inner voice comes naturally and is autopilot, and they never stop to think about whether they have the ability to turn it off a not. But once you develop the habit of recognizing this inner voice and interrupt it, you would be able to defeat this enemy much more easily. The best way to do this is to carry a small notebook or card in your pocket and write down one of your common negative phrases that this inner voice speak to you. For example, if you find yourself thinking of "I'm a nobody", write something better and opposite, such as "I'm a great catch". Then carry this notebook or card with you all around and catch yourself saying "I'm a nobody", and then repeat the other better sentence 10 times. Over time, you will find that you will be thinking of "I'm a nobody" lesser times as time goes by.

Although this may sound really simple at the start, you would be surprised at how effective and powerful this actually is. The reason is because overcoming negative self-talk can only be permanently accomplished when one finds a replacement for his negative phrases. Once you get into the habit of recognizing negative self-talk and replacing them with positive times, you will get better at it over time. Our brain is conditioned to think of negative things since our ancestors' time, and although we cannot completely get rid of them, we are still able to keep them under control by recognizing them and dealing with them appropriately.
